Usually I also keep stuff like this in the config file (in general I’m not a big fan of polluting package.json), but in the particular case that inspired the Medium post we wanted to keep everything very concise and passing setupFiles directly as a command-line parameter (as shown in the post) also works when running Jest directly from the Terminal.
